3. Wide Receiver

I strongly considered putting cornerback here. With Johnathan Joseph‘s career winding down and Bradley Roby only being signed to a one-year deal, corner could quickly become a major need for the Houston Texans. However, with Aaron Colvin being locked in through 2021 and second-round rookie Lonnie Johnson expected to make an impact, I decided to go in another direction and landed on wide receiver.

DeAndre Hopkins is arguably the best wide receiver in the entire NFL. He is an absolute freak on the outside who can change the game at any time. However, in order to reach their full offensive upside, the Texans need to find a viable pass catcher or two to pair him with.

Will Fuller has shown plenty of upside throughout his three-year NFL career, but injuries continue to be an issue with him. The Texans have Fuller under contract through the 2020 season, but counting on him to stay healthy would be a mistake. Keke Coutee was solid as a rookie last season, but his upside is limited out of the slot.

The 2020 NFL draft class will be absolutely loaded with talented wide receivers and the Texans would be smart to look to get into the action. This may not be priority number one for the team, but the Texans must have the wide receiver position on their radar.
