2017 NFL Draft Redo: Re-Drafting the entire first round

1. Cleveland Browns: Patrick Mahomes, QB, Texas Tech

Original Pick: Myles Garrett

The Cleveland Browns are undoubtedly happy with how this has all played out. They were able to land Myles Garrett and Baker Mayfield as first overall picks in back-to-back drafts and have done an incredible job of building their roster around those players. However, in this scenario, Mayfield is not yet on the roster and they have a chance to bring in the reigning league MVP.

Patrick Mahomes took the league by storm last season, leading the most explosive offensive unit in the entire NFL. His 5,097 yards and 50 touchdowns through the air speak for themselves, but the numbers do not tell the entire story.

Mahomes is the most exciting NFL quarterback in recent memory. He has a rocket launcher for a right arm, can make throws from seemingly impossible angles and has impressive mobility on top of it all. Simply put, he is the brightest young star in the entire league with a seemingly unlimited ceiling going forward.

The Kansas City Chiefs have put Mahomes in an ideal situation to succeed, so it is fair to wonder if he would be as great with another team. That being said, it would be foolish to bet against him.

Garrett has been great for the Browns and is a defensive superstar in the making. However, after seeing Mahomes on an NFL field, nobody could pass him up in this situation.
