Second-year wide receiver Michael Gallup will help take the Dallas Cowboys offense to the next level in 2019 alongside Amari Cooper.

The Dallas Cowboys got one of the biggest steals of the 2018 NFL Draft with Michael Gallup falling to them in the third round.

As Dak Prescott continued to show growth last season, he built a nice rapport with Gallup and 2018 trade deadline acquisition Amari Cooper.

While Cooper is the big name and the player in line for a huge contract, Gallup is a guy I think can really help take the Cowboys’ offense to the next level. He’s a big play waiting to happen.

Despite being just 6-foot-1, 200 pounds, and nothing overly spectacular athletically, Gallup knows how to position himself downfield, make difficult contested catches on a regular basis, and track the ball with the best of them.

Including the playoffs, Gallup caught 41 passes last season for 644 yards and three touchdowns, averaging over 16 yards per catch.

With a full offseason in new coordinator Kellen Moore’s scheme, Gallup is going to be the player who helps take Dallas to the next level offensively. He’s more than just a deep threat and he’s more than just opportunistic.

Gallup is a perfect complement to Amari Cooper in the Cowboys’ offense, and I think he’s going to prove in his second season that he’s more than capable of eating up targets and taking pressure off of Cooper in the passing attack.

His development and emergence will help give the Cowboys arguably the best group of skill players they have had in the last 20 years, possibly more.

Amari Cooper is the alpha, Gallup has the potential to be a “1a” type of receiver and the Cowboys also signed Randall Cobb this offseason and brought Jason Witten out of retirement.

Some guy named Ezekiel Elliott plays running back for them, too.

Gallup’s development will force teams playing the Cowboys to defend every blade of grass because he can stretch the field and make plays after the catch. If Dallas’ offensive line stays healthy this season, this offense could prove itself to be one of the most complete units in all of football.
