Pick 1c: Juju Smith-Schuster, WR, USC

Original pick: David Njoku, TE, Miami

The Browns went with an offensive weapon with their third first-round pick, a pick they traded up to get. If we’re the only team with hindsight in this class, we can manipulate the board in the next round a little bit (you’ll see what I mean) so I’m going with JuJu Smith-Schuster here to be Patrick Mahomes’ top target in the passing game.

Smith-Schuster was slightly underwhelming at his Combine workout, but who really cares? The guy was awesome at USC and undeservedly fell to the second round, and near the bottom of it at that.

He helped make Antonio Brown expendable for the Pittsburgh Steelers with his 111 catches for 1,426 yards and seven touchdowns last season. He has 14 touchdowns in his first two years in the NFL and has two plays of 97 yards already under his belt.

I guess that 40-time didn’t matter so much.

Imagine Smith-Schuster as the centerpiece of a passing game with Patrick Mahomes at the QB…
