8. Yannick Ngakoue, EDGE

Original Pick: OT Jack Conklin

The Tennessee Titans took offensive tackle Jack Conklin with the eighth overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft and he made an immediate impact. Conklin was named a first-team All-Pro for his play as a rookie and appeared primed to become an elite offensive lineman going forward.

I like Conklin’s game, but he was never that kind of player to me. He is a great run blocker who can absolutely dominate at times, but his pass protection ability is spotty and that limits his overall upside. Conklin is a good starting right tackle, but him being voted as a first-team All-Pro was a bit of a stretch.

Similar to a lot of these picks, the Titans picking Conklin was good, but they can do better now. Instead of bringing him in, they take arguably the best pure edge rusher in the class.

Yannick Ngakoue was a third-round selection by the Jacksonville Jaguars and entered the NFL as a raw, but talented edge rusher. He has quickly grown into a dynamic player on the edge and is undoubtedly a difference maker on the defensive side of the ball.

Ngakoue has been a full-time starter for the Jaguars, consistently wreaking havoc in the pass rush. In his 51 career games (playoffs included), Ngakoue has piled up 30.5 sacks and 73 quarterback hits.

You can never have too many guys who can get after the quarterback. Conklin is a good player, but Ngakoue is better. If the Titans could have that pick back, he should be the choice.
