Re-Drafting the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft
5. Jacksonville Jaguars: Dak Prescott, QB
Orginal Pick: Ramsey
With Ramsey off of the board, the Jacksonville Jaguars have to look in another direction. The addition of Nick Foles could fix the Jags’ issues at the quarterback position but at the time of the 2016 draft, Blake Bortles was still struggling through his Jacksonville career.
Instead of moving forward with the Bortles, the Jaguars have an opportunity to cut bait here, using the fifth overall pick to select quarterback Dak Prescott.
Prescott was a fourth-round pick by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2016 NFL Draft and has started every game of his NFL career. He burst onto the scene with the Cowboys as a rookie, completing 67.8% of his passes for 3,667 yards, 23 touchdowns and four interceptions. Prescott led the Cowboys to a 13-3 record as a rookie but lost in the Divisional Round to the Green Bay Packers.
Prescott has continued to have a successful NFL career the past two seasons and has established himself as a true franchise signal-caller. He is a smart and athletic quarterback who can make any throw on the field. Simply put, he would have immediately solidified the Jaguars’ quarterback situation and undoubtedly led them to a ton of success when paired with their talented defense.
