3. Sign OT Trent Brown

Another move the Texans should have made is signing former New England Patriots offensive tackle Trent Brown.

Brown looked like one of the best tackles in the NFL this past season for New England as the Patriots’ replacement for Nate Solder.

Of course, the Patriots have one of the best offensive line coaches in the NFL, but the Oakland Raiders decided Brown had made the necessary strides as a player to make him the highest paid right tackle in NFL history.

Although paying Brown as much as Oakland did would have been overpaying for any team, the Texans were in a position that they really needed to overpay.

Brown was probably the best left tackle option on the open market, and Houston should have made a more competitive offer for him. As a result of their lack of urgency, they are probably going to have Tytus Howard or Matt Kalil starting at left tackle this season.
