New York Giants: UDFAs who could make an impact
Reggie White Jr, WR, Monmouth
Reggie White Jr. had a father who played in the NFL, but he was not that Reggie White. His father played defensive tackle for the New England Patriots and San Diego Chargers throughout his four-year NFL career. The younger White enters the NFL with the Giants as an intriguing wide receiver prospect who had an extremely successful career at Monmouth.
White finished his college career with 249 receptions for 3,373 yards and 31 touchdowns. He left Monmouth as the school’s all-time leader in both receptions and receiving yards.
His eye-popping numbers came against lesser competition, but White’s physical profile suggests potential success at the next level. He is a big and athletic receiver who tested extremely well in the pre-draft process. He has a good combination of speed and quickness and attacks the ball in the air extremely well. His combination of size and athleticism gives him a wide catch radius at the next level.
White has a strong physical skill set that allowed him to dominate in college. However, if he is going to have success in the NFL, he is going to have to clean up his game a bit. White was a sloppy route runner in college, typically rounding off his routes instead of making sharp cuts. He is not going to be able to separate at the next level if this continues.
White is an intriguing prospect who has exciting upside at the wide receiver position. I could see the New York Giants developing him on the practice squad for a year or two and then unleashing him as a potential downfield threat when he is ready.
If he works hard to improve his route running, White could undoubtedly make an impact for this team down the line.
