#4: LSU’s Defensive Backs
I’m going to be completely forward with you, if LSU’s defensive backfield consisted of three regular ole DB’s and one Grant Delpit, they’d be on this list. I’m more than comfortable telling you, right now in June, the best defensive player in all of college football is Grant Delpit. And quite frankly, I don’t think it’s close.
There are two historically significant numbers at LSU, numbers that convey leadership. On offense, it’s the number 18 and on defense, it’s number 7. Which was most famously worn by The Honey Badger. Well, now Delpit will don the 7 in white and gold for the Tigers. (He wore #9 in previous seasons)
To go along with the sure-fire All-American in Delpit, LSU returns their starting Free Safety Jacoby Stevens and corner Kristian Fulton. Replacing Greedy Williams will be a task that true freshman Derrick Stingley Jr. will be asked to accomplish.
