3. Tre Lamar, LB, Clemson

Tre Lamar went undrafted due to concerns about his ability to hold up in the NFL athletically, but he was a very productive player at Clemson where his 4.95 played just fine.

That’s still a really ugly time for an inside linebacker, even a player listed at 6-foot-4, 253 pounds.

Lamar was a second-team All-ACC selection this past season as a junior when he racked up 79 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, and an interception.

Lamar could be considered a poor man’s Dont’a Hightower as a thumping inside linebacker with excellent size who looks like a defensive lineman but plays primarily off the ball.

Even though Lamar doesn’t put his hand in the dirt, his greatest strength is playing at, around, and behind the line of scrimmage. He does a good job of  timing blitzes and using his size and physicality to make plays on the ball carrier behind the line of scrimmage.

If his athletic limitations can be trumped by his preparation, instincts, and reliability, he could have a role in the NFL.
