2019 NFL Season: Four QBs primed for their best season yet
By Joel Deering
Carson Wentz – Philadelphia Eagles
Is this the season Carson Wentz finally stays healthy? That will be a big part of the 2019 season for Wentz. If he does play an entire 16 game season, I don’t see any reason why Wentz shouldn’t be on the list of QBs primed for their best season.
Going back to the 2017 season, Wentz was a front runner to win MVP before going down with an ACL injury. In 13 games, Wentz threw for 3,296 yards and 33 TDs with a passer rating of 101.9. Wentz came back as the starter in 2018 to play 11 games before being injured again. Wentz didn’t throw for as many yards or TDs than he did in 2017, but he did improve his completion percentage and passer rating from the year before.
Last season was his first season back from a serious knee injury. They say the second year after a knee injury is when a player truly gets back to 100%. Wentz will be coming off another injury, but it wasn’t as serious as the knee. I don’t think that injury will hold him back in year four. Wentz’ knee will be back at full strength, which will only improve his passing.
The injury isn’t the only reason I believe Wentz is one of the QBs primed for their best season. He’s also out to prove something. Because of his injuries, Wentz has yet to play in a playoff game for the Philadelphia Eagles. Nick Foles has carried the Eagles to several playoff wins, including a Super Bowl win over the New England Patriots.
With Nick Foles now gone, Wentz should be out to prove to Eagles fans everywhere that Foles is no longer needed. Wentz is out to prove that he would have taken the Eagles to the Super Bowl had he stayed healthy. He’s out to prove that he can lead the Eagles to the playoffs. He’s out to prove he can stay healthy for a full season.
As soon as Nick Foles left, there was no more question about who was going to be the guy. Carson Wentz will have a huge 2019 NFL season, proving he’s the guy now and in the future.
