Derek Carr – Oakland Raiders

Of the four QBs primed for their best season yet, Derek Carr may be the most underrated of them all. Last season was a disaster for the Oakland Raiders, which led to rumors about Derek Carr not being their franchise QB anymore.

Those rumors never really made sense to me, as it wasn’t really ever Derek Carr’s fault the Raiders had a poor 2018 season. With that being said, Carr is entering his sixth NFL season, meaning he should be entering, or should already be in the prime of his career. Derek Carr has shown us flashes of what he can be in his previous five seasons, but he has yet to put it all together.

Let me explain further. Carr has had a season where he’s thrown for over 4,000 yards. He’s had a season where he’s thrown for over 30 TDs. He’s also had a season where his passer rating was over 95.0. The problem is, he’s never had a season where he’s done those things in the same season.

His 4,000+ passing yards came in 2018, the 30+ TDs in 2015 and the passer rating in 2016. As a believer that Derek Carr is one of the QBs primed for their best season, I believe the 2019 NFL season is the season Carr puts it all together.

One of the biggest reasons why I believe Carr will have his best season yet, is because he’s out to prove he’s the franchise QB for this team. We all know the Raiders had talks about Kyler Murray during draft time. That couldn’t have felt good for Carr. Carr will put any questions about him being the franchise QB to rest during the 2019 season.

I also have a feeling Carr and WR Antonio Brown are going to be best friends. Carr has never had a receiver like Antonio Brown. Antonio Brown will make things a lot easier for Carr, as he’ll open up the entire field. Carr has had playmakers before, but never someone like Brown. Brown will help elevate Carr to the next level.
