2019 NFL Season: Four QBs primed for their best season yet
By Joel Deering
Dak Prescott – Dallas Cowboys
It’s easy to see why Dak Prescott is of the QBs primed for their best season yet. Prescott is currently in contract negotiations with the Dallas Cowboys. If they don’t get a deal done before the 2019 NFL season, Prescott will be playing to prove his worth. If the two sides do get a deal done, Prescott will be playing the 2019 NFL season to prove he’s worth the money, however much that may be.
I believe this is a win-win for Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys, as I think both situations will elevate the Dallas Cowboys QB to his best season so far.
To this point in his NFL career, Prescott has yet to throw for 4,000 yards in a season. Last season he totaled his highest passing yards mark, totaling 3,885. One of the biggest reasons for Dak earning a career high in passing yards last season, was WR Amari Cooper.
In the seven games Prescott played without Cooper to start the season, Prescott threw for over 200 yards just three times. In the following nine games with Amari Cooper, Prescott thew for over 200 yards eight times, including one game with over 400 yards and another with over 300.
Cooper helped elevate Prescott. It was surprising to see the two gain chemistry together so quickly. Now they’re going to have a full offseason of working together, which should only improve that chemistry.
While Cooper does deserve a lot of the credit, we have to give some attention to other key players on the offense as well. Rookie WR Michael Gallup began to step up toward the end of last season, and should only get better heading into his second NFL season. Dallas got TE Jason Witten back, which will do wonders for Dak Prescott. They also added WR Randall Cobb to replace Cole Beasley.
The offensive line played a lot better during the second half of the season last year. They’ve made moves to improve their line this season, and should be getting C Travis Frederick back. Oh, and then there’s Ezekiel Elliott.
Prescott has all the playmakers he needs to have his best season yet. I’m going to predict he finishes the 2019 NFL season with 30+ TD passes and over 4,000 passing yards, both of which would be career highs. With the playmakers Dallas has surrounded him with, and Prescott out to prove something, he’s absolutely one of the QBs primed for their best season.
