1. Jake Gervase, Safety

Jake Gervase is no stranger to the walk-on process.

The Iowa Hawkeyes don’t always recruit four- and five-star players to come to Iowa City, but Kirk Ferentz has become famous for developing unheralded players and turning them into NFL talents.

Jake Gervase is one of the latest.

Of course a player who starts his college career as a walk-on is going to have a chip on his shoulder, but now Gervase gets to repeat the process again with the Rams.

He started the past two seasons for the Hawkeyes and racked up 141 total tackles, seven interceptions, and 12 pass breakups.

That’s a lot of production for a walk-on.

There were times when Gervase’s lack of elite athleticism showed up on tape, but he’s a smart football player who can come in and impact special teams right away, and if he plays his cards right, he could get a shot at the rotation someday.
