Dallas Cowboys: Why Dak Prescott is worth $30 million a year
By Joel Deering
Transition from Romo to Prescott
When Tony Romo went down in the preseason of 2016, Cowboys fans everywhere thought their team would have a horrific season. If Prescott turned out to be like every other backup QB this team had had in recent history, their season was going to be a disaster.
Prescott turned out to be a capable backup, who then took the starting job Tony Romo and became their next franchise QB. We’ve already gone over what Dak has done since then. He’s only led the league in wins and game winning drives.
For those of you who don’t believe Prescott is worth $30 million a year, let me ask you this: What will the Cowboys do if they lose Prescott?
If the Dallas Cowboys don’t pay Prescott $30 million a year and let him walk, there’s a good chance they’ll be looking for their next franchise QB for the next five to 10 years. On the other hand, if they pay Prescott, they’ve already got their franchise QB for the next 10+ years.
Prescott’s best years have yet to come, and he’s already made the transition from Romo seamless. Without Prescott, where would the Dallas Cowboys be? They sure wouldn’t have had a record of 32-16. They sure wouldn’t have made the playoffs in two of three seasons since 2016.
Prescott is the present and future of the Dallas Cowboys, and he deserves to paid as such.
