2019 NFL Draft: Fixing one pick for each AFC South team
Tennessee Titans 2019 NFL Draft Class:
Round 1 (19): Jeffery Simmons, DT, Mississippi State
Round 2 (51): A.J. Brown, WR, Ole Miss
Round 3 (82): Nate Davis, OG, Charlotte
Round 4 (116): Amani Hooker, S, Iowa
Round 5 (168): D’Andre Walker, EDGE, Georgia
Round 6 (188): David Long, LB, West Virginia
Titans select Connor McGovern, OL, Penn State instead of Nate Davis
The Tennessee Titans only made six selections in the 2019 NFL Draft but they sure did make the most out of them. I absolutely loved the Titans’ draft and honestly did not see a weak selection in the group.
However, there is always room for improvement. The Titans did a fantastic job of finding value and filling important positions of need, but there is room for improvement with their third-round selection. Offensive guard is an obvious need for the Titans and Nate Davis is a good prospect. I by no means hated this pick, but Connor McGovern would have been a better selection.
McGovern is a fantastic run blocker who excels in both gap and zone schemes. He shows impressive push at the point of attack and has the quickness to consistently make blocks at the second level.
The Penn State product is incredible as a run blocker but can be shaky in pass protection. His hand placement is inconsistent, his footwork is a mess and his overall technique is lacking. That being said, he certainly has the skill set to improve in this area at the next level.
Simply put, Davis is good, but McGovern is better. He should have been the pick for the Titans in the third round.
