3. Joe Flacco, QB

As much as the former Super Bowl MVP doesn’t want to admit it, he’s in danger of losing his job to a rookie for the second straight year.

Joe Flacco is a serviceable starter in the NFL. The Ravens have had a top 10 defense over the past four or five years, however, and he’s been unable to lift them back to where they want to be — in the running for a championship.

That’s why the team drafted Lamar Jackson 32nd overall in 2018, and it’s why no one should be surprised if the Broncos’ roster is not enough to overcome Flacco’s shortcomings as a QB.

The Broncos have done and said all of the right things to ensure Flacco knows they are confident in him for the time being. John Elway even went so far as to say he’s entering the ‘prime’ years of his playing career.

Flacco, at the age of 34, has been average at best since 2014 when Gary Kubiak was his offensive coordinator.

There’s hope that the Rich Scangarello offense, somewhat of a version of the Kubiak offense, will work well for Flacco’s skill set.

If he doesn’t play well in Denver, second-round pick Drew Lock is going to take his job. The Broncos aren’t going to rush Lock onto the field, by any means, but the temptation will now be there to put him in if Flacco is not winning games.
