29. New Orleans Saints: Grant Calcaterra – Tight End – Oklahoma

With the recent signing of Jared Cook,  the choice to mock Oklahoma tight end Grant Calcaterra may be a surprise. But to me, it shouldn’t be, since this would be a pick for the future of the team.

I could have put another quarterback here, but as of right now, I don’t believe there are more than four first-round quarterbacks. On top of that, Saints already have Teddy Bridgewater locked up as the potential long-term answer at the position.. Besides, Calcaterra can give Drew Brees another reliable option over the middle of the field.

30. Los Angeles Rams:  Alton Robinson– Outside Linebacker – Syracuse

Despite re-signing Dante Fowler and bringing in Clay Matthews, I’m still not convinced the Rams have a viable outside pass-rush group. Yes, Aaron Donald got a bulk of the sacks in 2018, however, you still need reliable edge rushers.

Speaking of reliable, let’s talk about Alton Robinson from Syracuse. He’s one of my sleeper guys that no one else is discussing. He’s a long-framed, bendy edge prospect who could give the Rams the extra boost that they need.

31. Kansas City Chiefs: CeeDee Lamb – Wide Receiver – Oklahoma

This is another one of those picks that might be a shocker, given how late I currently have this player going. But nonetheless, the Chiefs need another weapon for Patrick Mahomes.

CeeDee Lamb may have been slightly overshadowed by Marquise Brown, but make no mistake, he’s just as electric. Lamb has great speed and unbelievable hands and could have the potential to thrive in that Chiefs offense.

32. New England Patriots: Kenny Willekes – Defensive End – Michigan State

And with the final pick in the first round, I have the Patriots selecting another defensive end to pair with Chase Winovich. While yes, I could have given them a tight end here, Kenny Willekes would thrive in the Pats scheme.

Willekes reminds me of former Bills defensive end, Aaron Schobel, both in body type and play style.  Willekes is a big-bodied 4-3 defensive end who uses power and an unrelenting motor to beat tackles.
