2020 NFL Draft: Way-too-early first-round mock draft
13. Carolina Panthers: Bryce Hall – Cornerback – Virginia
After focusing much of their 2019 offseason to fixing their offensive line and aging pass rush, the Carolina Panthers go back to the secondary with this pick. Outside of Donte Jackson, the Panthers do not have much at cornerback, that’s why Hall is the pick here.
Bryce Hall is my top corner at the moment and oh boy is he something on the field. He’s aggressive, shows great technique and has enough speed to match up against anyone. Hall would be another great piece in that Carolina defense.
14. Houston Texans: Travis Etienne – Running back – Clemson
Alright, this pick might be a bit of a headscratcher but hear me out. Lamar Miller‘s contract is up after 2019 when he will be 29-years-old, not to mention they do not have much depth behind him.
The need is there and the 2020 NFL Draft is expected to be loaded at the running back position and Travis Etienne could be the best of the bunch. Etienne is a powerful, agile runner who would immediately elevate the Texans offense. One way to protect your franchise quarterback is to provide him a stable running game, with Etienne in the backfield, Deshaun Watson will have that and more.
15. Seattle Seahawks: Trey Adams – Offensive Tackle- Washington
Despite adding Mike Iupati this offseason and drafting Phil Haynes, the Seahawks offensive line still looks a bit shaky at the moment, especially at tackle. Sure Duane Brown is a great player at left tackle but outside of him, it gets ugly.
To potentially spruce up the right tackle position, I have the Seahawks taking Washington tackle Trey Adams. If not for an unfortunate bout of injuries, we would have been talking about Adams as a first-round pick for 2019. While his health may be a concern, his on the field play is worthy of praise.
16. Baltimore Ravens: Shaquille Quartermain – Linebacker – Miami
After letting C.J. Mosley walk in free agency and failing to address the position during the draft, the Ravens now have a big hole at inside linebacker. It’s a big need for them and the guys they currently have on their roster will not cut it long-term.
This is why I have the Ravens going back to Miami’s well of talent, and selecting linebacker Shaq Quartermain. Quartermain, while not Ray Lewis, is still a rangy and instinctual linebacker who could be a nice chess piece for the Ravens.
