Los Angeles Chargers

This one is definitely more of a long-term need than short-term. Philip Rivers is still playing at an extremely high level and helps make the Los Angeles Chargers significant contenders in the AFC year after year. That being said, Rivers will turn 38-years-old during the 2019 NFL season and the Chargers would be wise to consider finding a long-term replacement for him in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Los Angeles already showed interest in finding Rivers’ eventual replacement this off season, as their name consistently popped up in Josh Rosen rumors. This may have been them simply seeing an opportunity to find great quarterback value, but to me, this signals interest in finding Rivers’ successor before it is too late.

Time catches up to all players, and with aging quarterbacks, it can happen extremely quickly. Rivers has looked great in recent seasons, but at his advanced age, nobody would be surprised to see his production start to slip. It happens to everybody.

The Chargers have an extremely talented roster, with impact players on both sides of the ball. Having a ready-made replacement should Rivers surprisingly decide to retire within the next few seasons certainly makes some sense. Keep an eye on the Chargers as a landing spot for these quarterbacks in the 2020 NFL Draft.
