2019 NFL Draft: Fixing one pick for each AFC West team
Denver Broncos
With the 71st overall pick in the third round, the Denver Broncos took Ohio State defensive lineman Dre’Mont Jones.
With three of their top defensive linemen on the last year of their current contracts, it makes sense the Broncos would go for defensive line help early, but what about the linebacker position?
Many felt like the Broncos could go with a linebacker as early as the 10th overall pick and they passed on Devin Bush there, then they passed on linebackers in round two.
Because of Pratt’s history as a safety, many felt like he would be a great fit for the Broncos because of their need for a coverage-oriented linebacker. He was also a team captain at NC State, which the Broncos highly value in their prospects.
Pratt went one pick later to the Cincinnati Bengals so this would have obviously been a solid spot for him.
The Broncos would use their next pick — not until round five — on a linebacker (edge player) in Justin Hollins of Oregon.
