Way-too-early 2020 NFL mock draft: Getting to know the 2020 class
Talented pass catchers are starting to fly off of the board here as the Carolina Panthers get Cam Newton a true number one receiver. Tee Higgins is a big jump ball receiver who would be a perfect compliment to the speedier D.J. Moore for Carolina.
Higgins uses his size extremely well, showing the ability to box out cornerbacks and catch the ball at the high point. He is also a smooth route runner for a receiver of his size and has legitimate deep speed down the sidelines. Getting Newton a talented receiver like Higgins could be the move to put the Panthers over the top.
The Houston Texans entered the 2019 draft with a talented roster, but massive needs across the offensive line. They addressed their offensive line needs with the selections of Tytus Howard out of Alabama State in the first round and Max Scharping out of Northern Illinois.
I was personally not a fan of either pick, as both Howard and Scharping need some time to develop before they should be counted on as starting offensive linemen. Unfortunately, the Texans simply do not have that kind of time.
The offensive line still stands as a major need for this team, which is why the Texans draft Trey Adams out of Washington in this 2020 NFL mock draft. Smith is an extremely talented offensive tackle who is currently the best pass blocker in this draft class. He is a true left tackle prospect who undoubtedly has massive upside at the next level and would be a perfect fit for the Texans.
