Way-too-early 2020 NFL mock draft: Getting to know the 2020 class
The New York Jets simply must continue to build a solid offensive core around Sam Darnold in order to get the most out of their franchise quarterback. Taking one of the premier receivers in this class here is tempting, but addressing the offensive line wins out. With the 11th pick of this 2020 NFL mock draft, the Jets select Tristan Wirfs, an exciting offensive tackle prospect out of Iowa.
Wirfs is a dominant run blocker who shows incredible raw power and creates impressive push at the point of attack. He also displays quick feet and great balance in pass protection, handling both speed and power on the edge well. Wirfs is a rock-solid right tackle who could come in and be an immediate starter and provide long-term upside for the Jets.
Drew Lock is not a perfect quarterback prospect, but he is a talented signal caller who has real starting upside as a second-round pick. In this 2020 NFL mock draft, the Broncos find Lock a true number one receiver to grow with, snagging the immensely talented Laviska Shenault out of Colorado.
Shenault came from seemingly out of nowhere last season to dominate Pac-12 defenses. He finished the season with 86 receptions for 1,011 yards and six touchdowns in only nine games. He also had five rushing touchdowns, taking snaps as the wildcat quarterback.
Shenault is an absolute freak on the outside, showcasing an elite combination of size, speed and athleticism. He is a dynamic deep threat who shows the ability to consistently separate, tracks the ball well in the air and displays strong hands in all situations.
The Colorado product is also playmaker after the catch, showing strong elusiveness in the open field and fantastic finishing power for a wide receiver. Simply put, this guy has it all and has massive overall upside at the next level.
