Way-too-early 2020 NFL mock draft: Getting to know the 2020 class
Similar to the Eagles, the New Orleans Saints are a team with few holes, making them difficult to make these mock selection for. The Saints are obvious Super Bowl contenders and will likely be looking to find a piece to take them over the top in the 2020 draft. In this 2020 NFL mock draft, the Saints add some depth in the defensive backfield with the selection of Richard LeCounte out of Georgia.
LeCounte is a freak athlete on the back end who shows tremendous range as a deep safety. He hand handle deep zone coverage responsibilities, but also has a lot of natural upside as an in-the-box safety. LeCounte moves well downhill, coming up and providing strong run support ability. He also has the overall athletic ability to be a capable man-to-man defender in most situations. Good jack-of-all-trades pick for the Saints here.
Linebacker stands out as one of the only needs on the Los Angeles Rams roster and it is an obvious position that they will look to address next off season. In this 2020 NFL mock draft, one of the best off-ball linebackers slips to them at number 30, making Paddy Fisher the obvious selection.
Fisher is an extremely smart linebacker who always finds himself in the right spot. He is a true ball hawk who shows elite-level run defense ability. This guy seemingly always finds his way to the ball carrier and is an extremely reliable tackler in open space. Fisher is not the most athletic linebacker prospect, but he shows adequate overall coverage skills and can create some pressure on the blitz. The Rams find a true defensive leader and big-time playmaker at a position of need here.
