Way-too-early 2020 NFL mock draft: Getting to know the 2020 class
The Jacksonville Jaguars may be able to quickly turn their fortunes around with Nick Foles under center. This is a talented team with few obvious needs. If they can simply get adequate play at the quarterback position, the Jaguars could easily become Super Bowl contenders again.
In this 2020 NFL mock draft, the Jags get Foles some help on the outside by taking Oklahoma wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. Lamb shows good, but not great speed on the outside and solid quickness and overall athleticism. He is a fantastic route runner who creates space on a consistent basis against man and zone coverage.
Lamb also displays fantastic hands, consistently catching the ball away from his body and showing the ability to come down with balls in traffic. He also has some playmaking skills after the catch. Lamb has true number one wide receiver upside and would fill an obvious need for Jacksonville.
The 2020 NFL Draft will showcase the best group of running backs that we have seen in years. There is running back talent all over the place, with as many as five players at the position who currently look to have a legitimate chance to be first round players. Travis Etienne is the best of a loaded group.
Etienne is the total package at the running back position, showing impressive ball carrier vision, incredible burst through the hole, good elusiveness in the open field and elite breakaway speed. His game is primarily built on speed, but do not ignore Etienne’s power at the point of attack. He is a tough runner who also shows impressive contact balance. Simply put, he is an incredibly difficult runner to get to the ground.
Etienne is also a capable pass catcher out of the backfield who shows upside in that area despite limited passing game usage up until this point. James Conner is a good back, but Etienne has a chance to be one of the best in the NFL. Drafting him would be a strong move for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
