Bunchy Stallings, OG, Kentucky

The Jacksonville Jaguars brought back right guard A.J. Cann on a new three-year deal this off season but his play has been up and down since the team drafted him in the third round of the 2015 NFL draft. That is why one name that stood out to me when reviewing the Jaguars UDFA additions was Kentucky’s Jervontius “Bunchy” Stallings.

An AP first-team All-American, Stallings was a force on an offensive line that paved the way for star running back, Benny Snell at Kentucky. Stallings likely went undrafted due to being a shorter guard that lacks elite physical tools, but if you watch him, he shows that he can get away with that by outworking his opponents as both a run blocker and pass protector on the interior.

He has great eyes that allow him to quickly recognize stunts in the passing game and he has the occasional “wow” moment in the run game because he is not afraid to hit defenders in the mouth. He is a mean and nasty offensive lineman who fits the Jacksonville Jaguars offense well.

I’m not saying Stallings is going to go from an undrafted free agent to immediately pushing for a starting spot. That being said, I will say that Cann better prove he was worth the investment in 2019. Stallings could be waiting in the wings to replace him.
