Best Pick: John Schneider, GM
Just a question. How often do we hear the saying “well they’d love to trade down and accumulate picks” during the draft process? Well, entering the 2019 Draft the Seahawks had just five picks, thanks to the Frank Clark trade, and here we are and the Seahawks left with 11 picks, seven of them in the top 132.
So, though I love Gary Jennings from WVU, and despite my doubts on D.K. Metcalf I think that’s a tremendous value at number 64, John Schneider earned this A- by actually managing to do what everyone wants, and do it well.
Worst Pick: Ugo Amadi, CB
Despite Seattle having tremendous historical success drafting at the cornerback position, this one just doesn’t fit their MO to me. (Sorry, I watched a lot of SVU growing up)
Seattle tends to draft tall, long-armed corners, and if you aren’t tall you better be able to fly. Well, Amadi is neither of those. He’s an undersized corner that ran 4.51 at the combine. The only thing he does have going for him however, he has positional variability so he has a shot to make an impact. I just don’t see it here, at #132.
