I don’t think a lot of people in NFL circles have enjoyed much of what the Tampa Bay Buccanneers have done over the last, let’s call it a decade. But I think heading into the 2019 NFL Draft, they had a handful of specific needs and I feel like they filled those holes without sacrificing the value at each pick.
For example, was Chris Lindstrom the 14th best player in this draft? No. But he was the best guard available in this draft and he was there and probably wouldn’t have been the next time around, but rarely does a team stand pat and take the positional need AND still get good value at each pick.
Let’s try our best to ignore that whole “drafting a kicker in the fifth round” thing for just a moment. They added a tremendous amount of depth to their defensive backfield, while also taking the inside linebacker with the highest ceiling at the position since Ray Lewis, in my opinion. Is he going to be a first-team All-pro year one, maybe not, but Devin White barring injury will have a gold jacket on one day. Fantastic showing in the 2019 NFL Draft for the Bucs.
