In this article, we take a look at the differences between the public opinion on 2019 NFL Draft prospects through social media and compare it to that of actual scouts.

The advent of Twitter and social media has impacted our daily lives for well over a decade now and we’ve seen it change the way the public consumes its news and information. So, when discussing the impact of social media — and the distortion of public opinion it can cause — it’s important to note the bulk of NFL scouting departments making these decisions could care less about the guy Twitter loves.

In steps the debate in this article. Let’s take a look at the 2019 NFL Draft from the perspective of Twitter Scouts vs. Team Scouts.

It’s no shocker that these two worlds — NFL Draft Twitter and NFL Team scouts — are comprised of entirely different beings on a fundamental level. For the most part, people involved in opinion giving on Twitter range from anywhere from 18 to 30 years old. Whereas, the NFL scout sitting at the round table in the war room is traditionally middle-aged, if not older. So, the initial distinctions are obvious.
