. . . Carolina Panthers. . team. 87

1 (16): Brian Burns, DE, Florida State
2 (37): Greg Little, OT, Ole Miss
3 (100): Will Grier, QB, West Virginia
4 (115): Christian Miller, DE, Alabama
5 (154): Jordan Scarlett, RB, Florida
6 (212): Dennis Daley, OT, South Carolina
7 (237): Terry Godwin, WR, Georgia

I thought for certain the Panthers would start off this draft by investing in protection for their quarterback, especially with Andre Dillard and others still on the board.

They opted to get someone who can hit the other team’s quarterback instead, and they’re pumped about it.

Burns brings some much needed youth and burst off the edge for Carolina. He’s a long, speedy edge player who will have to get better as an anchor in the run game, but he’s not just a one-trick pony. He can make an impact off the edge.

Greg Little was a reach in the second round, especially in the top five picks of day two and even more that the Panthers traded up for him. I wasn’t a huge fan of that pick, but he fills a need at left tackle.

Will Grier is one of my favorite picks in this class. I thought Grier had great tape, showed he can make all of the throws, and is extremely competitive.

Christian Miller adds more young depth off the edge, and Scarlett is yet another option for this team out of the backfield to give Christian McCaffrey some rest.

Dennis Daley will compete for a swing tackle job and Terry Godwin was a really nice value in the 7th round.
