44. . . . Atlanta Falcons. . team

1 (14): Chris Lindstrom, OG, Boston College
2 (31): Kaleb McGary, OT, Washington
3 (111): Kendall Sheffield, CB, Ohio State
4 (135): John Cominsky, DE, Charleston
5 (152): Qadree Ollison, RB, Pittsburgh
6 (172): Jordan Miller, CB, Washington
7 (203): Marcus Green, WR, Louisiana-Monroe

The Atlanta Falcons made some interesting decisions on draft night.

Chris Lindstrom would have been a great pick in round two, and a decent pick in the bottom half of the first round. At pick no. 14 overall? I’m not so sure about that. Hopefully he becomes a decade-long starter for the Falcons and turns into one of the elite guards in the NFL.

He certainly has great movement skills and high character, so the odds are in his favor.

The trade up to get Kaleb McGary was puzzling. McGary was a 2nd-3rd round player and there were better tackles (Dalton Risner) who fit the Falcons’ scheme available.

Kendall Sheffield has big time speed and athleticism but fell for inconsistency in production.

John Cominsky went from a 218 pound quarterback to a 289 pound defensive end in no time at Charleston, and certainly looks like a stellar NFL defensive end prospect. He will need some time to put it all together, but the tools are there.

I felt like Qadree Ollison would be a priority free agent.

Jordan Miller has great length at the cornerback position, but needs to put things together consistently to make an impact in the NFL.

Green showed exceptional (4.39) speed and explosive leaping ability at his pro day, giving the Falcons’ offense and special team another speedy weapon.
