Minnesota Vikings. . team. 60. . .

1 (18): Garrett Bradbury, C, N.C. State
2 (50): Irv Smith, TE, Alabama
3 (102): Alexander Mattison, RB, Boise State
4 (114): Dru Samia, OG, Oklahoma
5 (162): Cameron Smith, LB, USC
6 (190): Armon Watts, DT, Arkansas
7 (191): Marcus Epps, S, Wyoming
8 (193): Oli Udoh, OT, Elon
9 (217): Kris Boyd, CB, Texas
10 (239): Dillon Mitchell, WR, Oregon
11 (247): Olabisi Johnson, WR, Colorado State
12 (250): Austin Cutting, LS, Air Force

Operation ‘Protect Kirk Cousins’ started off with Garrett Bradbury, the best interior lineman in this year’s draft.

The Vikings did well to sit at 18 and still get a lineman of Bradbury’s character and quality, and they’ll be counting their lucky stars when they see this guy make the calls on the offensive line and run the show.

Pat Elflein moves to guard.

Irv Smith Jr. is a very good all-around tight end prospect but he lacked the size other players have. He is a bloodline NFL prospect whose father played tight end for the Saints back in the day. Could this kid be the heir apparent to Kyle Rudolph?

While Mattison excelled as a bell cow back at Boise State, was he a great value in the third round? I will be interested to see how much he plays for the Vikings right away. He has three-down capabilities despite running a 4.67.

Dru Samia is a starting caliber interior lineman for this team. The Vikings needed so much help protecting Cousins, and they were lucky their second OL pick was as good as this one.

I think Cameron Smith and Marcus Epps will give the Vikings some special teams help right away, and both could develop into starters. Armon Watts will be solid interior line depth.

Oli Udoh was a winner of the offseason circuit and made a name for himself at the East-West Shrine Game.

Kris Boyd was a steal in the 7th round. I have no idea how he lasted that long. He was a feast or famine zone corner with tackling ability but he can play.

Olabisi Johnson was underrated these past couple of seasons and has speed at the receiver position.

There were rumors teams were lining up to sign Air Force long snapper Austin Cutting, so the Vikings just used one of their dozen picks on him.
