. . . Green Bay Packers. . team. 49

1 (12): Rashan Gary, DE/LB, Michigan
2 (21): Darnell Savage, S, Maryland
3 (44): Elgton Jenkins, OL, Mississippi State
4 (75): Jace Sternberger, TE, Texas A&M
5 (150): Kingsley Keke, DL, Texas A&M
6 (185): Ka’dar Hollman, CB, Toledo
7 (194): Dexter Williams, RB, Notre Dame
8 (226): Ty Summers, LB, TCU

The Green Bay Packers made some significant investments on the defensive side of the ball in free agency, signing Preston Smith from Washington and Za’Darius Smith from Baltimore.

Then GM Brian Gutekunst used his top pick on the super-athletic Rashan Gary out of Michigan. Gary was more flash than production with the Wolverines, but he had flashes of pure brilliance.

It will be interesting to see how he is utilized in this defensive front, which is loaded with talent.

Darnell Savage is a missile on the back end of a defense and gives the Packers a matchup guy who can fly around the field and make plays. If the game slows down for him, he will be an elite player at his position. At this point and where he’s at, I thought trading up for him was a bit of a reach.

Elgton Jenkins is one of the best interior players in this draft class. He can play center or guard immediately for this team.

Jace Sternberger is a solid receiving threat at the tight end position and can make plays vertically as well as in the red zone. He didn’t run as well as everyone had hoped he would.

Kingsley Keke made it back-to-back Texas A&M picks for the Packers 75 selections apart, and gives them another solid option on the interior of their defense.

Dexter Williams was a cool story late in the draft.
