2019 NFL Draft: Grades, recaps, and analysis for all 32 teams
1 (28): Jerry Tillery, DL, Notre Dame
2 (60): Nasir Adderley, S, Delaware
3 (91): Trey Pipkins, OT, Sioux Falls
4 (130): Drue Tranquill, LB, Notre Dame
5 (166): Easton Stick, QB, North Dakota State
6 (200): Emeke Egbule, OLB, Houston
7 (242): Cortez Broughton, DT, Cincinnati
The Chargers seem to be pulling all of the right strings in the personnel department lately, don’t they?
Jerry Tillery is a very good pass rusher from the interior defensive line, and drew some Chris Jones comparisons.
If the Chargers are getting anything close to a Chris Jones in this defense, you had better be able to hold their offense to less than 13 points, because you aren’t scoring many.
They now have the ability to win from the inside out.
Nasir Adderley is a small school player but many felt he could be the best safety prospect in this entire draft. We’ll see how he works with the Chargers’ top notch secondary.
Trey Pipkins — shoutout to my hometown and alma mater of Sioux Falls — was a surprise pick in round three but he could start for this team in a year or so on the left or right side. Maybe the Chargers feel like he can start on the right side right away.
Drue Tranquill is an older rookie due to injuries in college but he is a coverage linebacker and special teams playmakers.
Easton Stick was one of the most decorated quarterbacks in this draft with four National Championships at North Dakota State. I love that pick for a developmental QB.
Grade: B+
