2019 NFL Draft: Grades, recaps, and analysis for all 32 teams
1 (56): Mecole Hardman, WR, Georgia
2 (63): Juan Thornhill, S, Virginia
3 (84): Khalen Saunders, DL, Western Illinois
4 (201): Rashad Fenton, CB, South Carolina
5 (214): Darwin Thompson, RB, Utah State
6 (216): Nick Allegretti, OG, Illinois
The black cloud over the Kansas City Chiefs’ draft was — and still is — the situation involving star receiver Tyreek Hill.
It would surprise no one if Hill has played his last down with the Chiefs, which is why GM Brett Veach was aggressive in pursuing Mecole Hardman, a speed receiver from Georgia, in the second round.
Juan Thornhill is a very tough safety who should pair well with Tyrann Mathieu on the back end of a defense that desperately needs an infusion of talent.
Khalen Saunders is a very fun interior line prospect with a squatty frame and explosiveness off the ball. He had a great offseason circuit and won people over with his awesome personality.
On day three, the Chiefs picked up depth at key positions, and they finally addressed their interior offensive line.
This draft class includes Frank Clark, the player the Chiefs acquired from the Seahawks for their first round pick this year.
