2019 NFL Draft: Grades, recaps, and analysis for all 32 teams
1 (20): Noah Fant, TE, Iowa
2 (41): Dalton Risner, OL, Kansas State
3 (42): Drew Lock, QB, Missouri
4 (71): Dre’Mont Jones, DT, Ohio State
5 (156): Justin Hollins, OLB, Oregon
6 (187): Juwann Winfree, WR, Colorado
The Denver Broncos traded down from the 10th overall pick and still managed to get a top 15 player in this draft in Iowa tight end Noah Fant.
The tight end position has been an issue for the Broncos since Julius Thomas left them after 2014, and Fant hopefully can correct that. He is a big time playmaker with 4.51 speed and a lot of production (18 TDs the past two seasons) at Iowa.
Dalton Risner is a robbery in round two, as is Drew Lock.
The Broncos could have traded back into the first round for Risner or Lock, or they could have taken either guy at 20. They could have taken Lock at 10 and while the people who don’t like Lock would have criticized the pick a little bit more, virtually no one can deny he was a great value in the second round.
In round three, the Broncos got Dre’Mont Jones who was giving quarterbacks fits all year in 2018.
Justin Hollins is a highly athletic pass rusher with special teams ability and defensive versatility.
Juwann Winfree was a surprise pick after the Broncos traded up, but he provides depth at a position that needs it.
