The Bears move up for David Montgomery

The Chicago Bears didn’t have a selection until the 80s.

After trading for Khalil Mack and Anthony Miller last year, the Bears’ draft capital cupboard was pretty bare, but not bare enough.

Ryan Pace identified David Montgomery as his ideal choice to replace Jordan Howard, and he moved up in round three to get him.

Montgomery has one of the more fascinating players in this draft at his position. Built like Kareem Hunt (his comp on NFL.com), Montgomery has great balance and patience with the ball in his hands as a runner.

I love the way he sees holes in the defense and patiently attacks them, using his quickness rather than straight line speed to win as a runner.

The Bears’ offensive weaponry is already strong, but getting Montgomery to pair with Tarik Cohen is really fun.
