Baltimore Ravens: Pick grade for WR Marquise Brown
By Andrew Kim
In the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens traded down with the Philadelphia Eagles to select Oklahoma wide receiver Marquise Brown.
Even though Oklahoma’s Marquise Brown may have not been the wide receiver I thought the Baltimore Ravens were getting, the 2019 NFL Draft is not over so I would not be surprised if they take another receiver on day two.
That said, however, Brown automatically gives the Ravens another dimension in the offense with a versatile wide receiver who can play on the outside and from the slot. Brown gives the Ravens’ receiver room tons of speed that they do not have right now.
The Oklahoma junior receiver could be a dynamic playmaker and with Lamar Jackson under center along with a power running game, he can open up the field to help the run game.
The former Sooner has a chance to score from anywhere on the field on any play. Defenses will have to account for both Jackson and Hollywood at the same time as it should leave the middle of the defenses not stacking in the box as often.
We have seen smaller and faster receivers have success in the league but the only concerns I have with this pick are his Lisfranc injury and his smaller frame playing in the AFC North.
He should be ready by training camp but he did not run at the combine or his pro day. Hollywood has natural route running ability with a diverse route tree that had production at Oklahoma.
