Less than two days away from the 2019 NFL Draft, are the Washington Redskins desperate to move up for a quarterback?

With less than two days before the 2019 NFL Draft is officially underway, we have some juicy rumors floating around about teams looking to trade up and down. Specifically, the Washington Redskins have been rumored as a team interested in moving up for a quarterback, and those rumors appear to be heating up.

If the Redskins have explored moving into the top five picks overall, the likeliest trade candidate is probably the New York Jets, who have been rumored to be interested in trading down from the  third spot as they do not have a second-round pick in this draft.

If the Redskins want to move up from 15 overall, they will have to trade their first-round pick, third round pick, and probably another first-round pick in 2020 beyond that.

Is it worth it?

The Redskins should be highly motivated to move up to whatever pick they need to in order to ensure the quarterback they covet.

Alex Smith isn’t playing in 2019 and hopefully his injury isn’t career-ending. Case Keenum and Colt McCoy are backup/spot starter types of players and jobs are going to be on the line in Washington.

This is desperation mode for a team looking to compete for the NFC East, and drafting a quarterback is a move that makes sense.

The Redskins can’t afford to worry about the assets they’re giving up here. They have to sacrifice whatever is needed in order to get the QB they covet the most. By the way, that QB might not be the one you think…

Could the Redskins be the mystery team that has Jones as the number one QB on their board? If they trade into the top five picks — and by all accounts the 49ers, Jets, Raiders, and Bucs should all be considered open for business — it would be a shocking move to say the least.

Washington has to do something. Wouldn’t it be interesting if Jay Gruden was able to convince his brother Jon to trade down and give him a bounty of picks to get a QB?

The Raiders could theoretically have three first-round picks in this year’s draft and next year’s if they were to move down with Washington.

Next. Four teams likely to trade up in 2019. dark

This is a situation worth monitoring. Nothing is official until it’s official, but this is a fun rumor and it makes sense with everything we’ve heard over the past month.
