Round 6 / Pick 200: Dillon Mitchell, WR, Oregon

Dillon Mitchell had a breakout season in 2018 for Oregon. Establishing himself as Justin Herbert’s top target early in the season, Mitchell finished the season with 75 receptions for nearly 1,200 yards and 10 touchdowns.

At 6’2, 190 Mitchell has the build to be a productive receiver in the league. Where Mitchell excels is after the catch. His ability to make defenders miss in the open field will force teams to look past reports of Mitchell not always taking coaching well and the belief by some that he doesn’t care enough to work on his game.

With the loss of Tyrell Williams to Oakland, the Chargers lost one of Philip Rivers’ top targets for the past few years. The return of Hunter Henry will provide Rivers with another reliable target, but behind Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, the Chargers don’t have very many playmakers on the outside.

The Addition of Mitchell into the offense could give them a player that will make the tough catches over the middle and turn them into chunk plays if he shows the willingness to improve his craft for a year or two.
