Los Angeles Chargers Mock Draft: Bolts Trade for QB of the Future
Round 4 / Pick 130: Iman Marshall, DB, USC
Iman Marshall was a four-year starter at the University of Southern California. Marshall totaled 216 tackles, six interceptions, and one forced fumble in his time at USC. At 6’1, 205 pounds Marshall has the size and physicality to stick around in the NFL.
Though Marshall lacks the athleticism to be a shutdown cornerback in the NFL, he possesses many qualities that will make him a very effective player if he switches over to the safety position. With his physicality at the line while in press coverage, Marshall would also thrive as a slot cornerback in a nickel or dime package.
Though Marshall lacks the top end speed teams are often looking for, his ball skills are very good and he ranked 4th in forced incompletions during his senior season at USC according to Pro Football Focus.
The Chargers don’t have an urgent need in the secondary, but aside from Derwin James, none of the safeties of the roster have earned the other starting safety spot.
Marshall would be a great value pick at 130 and with the departure of safety Jahleel Addae, he would have the opportunity to earn a role on the starting defense. Marshall is a versatile defensive back with four years of experience against quality competition in the Pac-12.
