Round 3 Pick 98 – Marquise Blair, S, Utah

After helping out Nick Foles on the offensive side of the ball with the first three picks, the Jaguars finally look to fill one of their holes on defense by selecting Marquise Blair with their second pick in the 3rd round.

While not one of the bigger names in the 2019 draft, Blair is a big, athletic, rangy safety that has all the tools to contribute right away in the NFL.

Blair plays with an edge and aggressiveness that would fit in perfectly with the Duval defense.

He is full speed at all times and while that can get him in trouble at times (4 ejections for targeting while at Utah), he is a true tone setter on the back end.

He can play single high in the Jags cover 3 sets, but could also drop down into the box and mix it up in the run game as well.

Blair’s versatility and upside make him an exciting prospect that should be in the mix if Jacksonville wants to fill the void left after releasing Tashaun Gipson back in March.
