3. Jonah Williams, OT, Alabama & Jawaan Taylor, OT, Florida

Yes, I put two players here. Technically this makes four potential surprise players, but I grouped Jonah Williams and Jawaan Taylor together because they play the same position.

With so many great players available to the Cardinals with the No. 1 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, it may seem crazy for them to even think about taking an OT first overall. However, the fact of the matter is, this team needs to be better along the offensive line.

This offensive line gave up 52 sacks last season. That ranked tied for fifth in the league in most sacks allowed. If the Cardinals are in fact going to stick with Josh Rosen as their QB, they have to give him protection from the offensive line. The only way Rosen will develop into what the Cardinals hoped he would be when they drafted him 10th overall last year, is if he gets time in the pocket.

Another reason why I grouped Jonah Williams and Jawaan Taylor together here, is because there’s no clear cut top OT in this draft. Many believe it’s Williams, while others believe it’s Taylor. If the Cardinals go OT with the first pick, it will be one of these two guys. It’ll just come down to who they prefer.

With all the attention being on the Cardinals taking either a QB or defensive lineman, this move would certainly shock a lot of people. However, OT can’t be dismissed as one of the top needs this Cardinals team has. We really shouldn’t be shocked if they end up going this way.
