Rapid-fire crazy options

Knowing Mike Mayock’s affinity for blue collar players and Jon Gruden always keeping his eyes peeled for “Gruden Grinders” here are a few more prospects to consider.

TJ Hockenson, TE, Iowa

The Mackey Award winner is a Gruden Grinder if I’ve ever seen one. He has all of the tools and skills to become a top 10 tight end in the NFL by season’s end.

Seriously.

Joshua Jacobs, RB, Alabama

We’re talking about surprise picks, right? It sounds like there is competition for Jacobs on the back end of the first round. What if the Raiders want him so bad they just go ahead and take him at 4?

Brian Burns, EDGE, Florida State

Not many have Burns in their top 10 picks right now, but some consider him a top 10 player. Picking him 4th overall would be unexpected but would please some of his biggest fans in this process.

Jonah Williams, OL, Alabama

If Kolton Miller is moving to the right tackle spot, someone’s got to take over the void left by Kelechi Osemele, who was traded to the New York Jets.

Jonah Williams projects as a guard for some teams at the next level and the Raiders might view him as a decade-long starter.

Jeffery Simmons, DL, Mississippi State

The Raiders could take Quinnen Williams or Ed Oliver instead, but Jeffery Simmons is a guy we can’t forget about.

It’s more likely he goes in the later portion of the first round, but the Raiders could just eliminate the competition and take him fourth.

Simmons would likely have been a top 10 pick if not for a knee injury.
