2019 NFL Draft: Top defensive players at each position
Edge #2: Josh Allen, Kentucky
I think Nick Bosa has done enough during this evaluation process to more than earn the top defensive end grade in this draft class. However, after that? I think there can be a case made for a handful of prospects.
Whether your big board has Montez Sweat, Brian Burns, Josh Allen, or hell even Clelin Ferrell at edge #2, I’m not going to hate on you. I think it’s that close for the rest of this class.
That being said, Josh Allen takes the #2 defensive end spot for me, and the reasons why are simple. This is a guy that had 17.0 sacks in the SEC last year by merely running around people. He was so quick and bendy around the edge, that’s all it took.
Now, will Allen ever develop a counter move in pass pro? I truly don’t know, but the good news is the fact that even if he flops at defensive end, I think he will be a decade long pro at outside linebacker making plays all over the field.
