Fifth round: Greg Gaines, DL, Washington

Though Gaines’ effort didn’t always result in big plays at Washington, his strength and motor have earned him looks from NFL teams on day three of the NFL Draft, and the Seahawks are rumored to be particularly interested in him.

The 6-foot-1, 312 pound nose tackle was an honorable mention All-Pac 12 selection in 2016, 2nd-team All-Pac 12 selection in 2017, and a 1st-team All-Pac 12 selection in 2018.

His ascent included being named the 2018 Morris Trophy winner as the Pac 12’s top defensive lineman as voted on by his peers in the league.

Though Gaines has short arms and a low center of gravity, he’s got the power and quickness off the ball to make an impact at the next level as a rotational nose tackle and the Seahawks would probably love to add someone like him to their mix.
