ROUND 6 Pick 206: KENDALL JOSEPH, ILB, Clemson

I like Joseph’s game. I don’t buy that at 6’0 235 he’s too small to play ILB in the NFL. This guy was all over the field for the National Champion Clemson Tigers. He was a team Captain, is a high character guy with off the charts Football IQ. He’s a solid wrap up tackler that excels in coverage. What more do you want from a back up inside linebacker?

ROUND 7 Pick 222: TOMMY SWEENEY, TE, BOSTON COLLEGE

I waited until the last round to draft a TE because I love Jeremy Sprinkle and Jay Gruden obviously loves Jordan Reed. To be fair, Reed almost played a whole season without getting hurt last year. He lasted 14 games. Gruden continues to talk about him as their number one receiver. And personally, I think Sprinkle is going to end up being a star.

Does Vernon Davis have another year left in him? Possibly. No matter, at this point in the draft Sweeney is the best player available and while he doesn’t fill an immediate need that could change in a hurry.

He is admittedly more of a blocking TE than someone that’s going to catch a bunch of touchdowns but with Derrius Guice and Adrian Peterson in our backfield that could come in handy. Sweeney blows people up as a run blocker. As a 7th round pick I like him a lot.

ROUND 7 Pick 253: MARK FIELDS, CB, Clemson

Fields is on the small side but he is fast. And although he’s not going to excel in run support he finds a way to make tackles.

What Fields does extremely well is cover wide receivers. He covers them like a glove. Taking him with the second to last pick in the draft is the closest thing to a steal your going to get this late on day three. You can never, ever have enough cover guys.
