Quarterback: Dwayne Haskins, Ohio State

Ahhhhhhhh, finally the moment we’ve all been waiting for… QB1. I’m picking Dwayne Haskins and here’s why.

If someone were stupid enough to give me a general manager’s job in the NFL, I would at least be smart enough to understand that my legacy as a GM is directly tied to the success of the quarterback that I have either drafted or invested in.

So, if I’m in the position where drafting a quarterback is the option, I am going to go looking for the player that when I lay my head down at night, I’m able to sleep with as much peace as possible. I want to have as few questions as humanly possible about that individual so I know I can keep my job and kids in their current homes.

That being said, Kyler Murray comes with copious amounts of questions and potential issues. Granted, it comes with tremendous potential upside, but you’ve got to design an offense specifically tailored for him. Then you’ve got to hope that he’s immediately successful and doesn’t just bail for baseball.

Oh and then there’s the question of whether or not he can hold up physically.

For all those reasons, I’m a Haskins guy, and I may just be scared and playing it safe. But sometimes in life, you gotta lay up on the 18th green to ensure you don’t shank it in the trap. (How bout a golf pun on Masters weekend? Go, Tiger)
