Day Three Finished

Greg Gaines, DL, Washington

After spending the top three picks on offense, the Bengals go on a defensive binge well into day three.

Greg Gaines is a player who gives high effort every down and does a good job of setting an anchor. Big and wide at 6-foot-1, 315 pounds, Gaines could be a scrappy nose tackle in the NFL for years to come.

Kendall Sheffield, CB, Ohio State

Sheffield tested exceptionally well at his pro day, and his combination of athletic skills could be attractive enough to teams that he doesn’t last this far into day three, but he did in this projection.

The Bengals’ depth at cornerback is always fairly strong and Sheffield would give them yet another weapon.

Shareef Miller, EDGE, Penn State

Quick, explosive edge player with long arms. I like Miller’s ability to translate both in a 3-4 look or a 4-3, so a defensive coordinator is going to salivate at the chance to get him in their edge rotation with his burst and effort.

Michael Dogbe, DL, Temple

In addition to his 72 tackles this past season, Dogbe racked up 12.5 tackles for loss and seven sacks. He could come in and contribute on someone’s interior defensive line right away. The Bengals need to add depth all across their defensive front.

Kendall Joseph, LB, Clemson

Joseph was one of the leaders of a dominant Clemson defense and a three-year starter. If he doesn’t make it in the NFL, it won’t be because of his effort. This guy was a machine for the Tigers and it wasn’t all based on the talent around him.

Ryquell Armstead, RB, Temple

I was surprised to see Armstead available in the simulation, but I couldn’t pass on him here. He has size, speed, strength, and is competitive as heck. That translates in his running style.
