Fifth round: Jalen Jelks, EDGE, Oregon

Making back-to-back defensive picks, the Bengals go with a guy in Jalen Jelks that has been receiving more hype than I thought he would after watching some of his games.

Jelks didn’t have the statistical production you would want from an edge player, but I think he’s versatile enough to play different positions up front and he’s stronger than his frame indicates.

He has good length and does a good job of setting the edge, even if he’s not a twitchy pass rusher.

Though he didn’t run a fast 40-yard dash at the Scouting Combine, Jelks has plenty in the way of length and functional play strength to make it at the next level.
